Chicago got a decent performance from pitcher Dustin Howard, but it wasn't enough to beat the Eugene Vandals. Eugene won the Ramblers Ballpark contest, 7-6. Howard threw 7.2 innings allowing 5 runs for the losing team. Guillermo Torres, credited with the win in relief, is now 3-0. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3 innings. The Vandals are now 37-43.

Eugene used a clutch hit from Alfred Griffin to get the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Vandals ahead, 7-6. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a doozy.

"You win some, you lose some. I don't get too caught up in all that," said Griffin.
