Commodores Get Past Delmarva, 4-3
|
Delmarva got a big-time effort from pitcher Lewis Smith, but it wasn't enough to keep the Put-In-Bay Commodores from winning the game, 4-3. Smith threw 7.0 innings of 1-hit ball for the losing team. The save went to Cam Stone, number 14 for him. The last-place Gallos now sit at 33-51.
Put-In-Bay used a clutch hit from Jesús Flores to get the win. The designated hitter drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Commodores ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a doozy.
"It's Baseball 101," said Put-In-Bay manager José Trejo. "Fundamentals."
