Vandals Win Squeaker, 3-2, Over Commodores
|
Put-In-Bay wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Marcus Thomas, falling to the Eugene Vandals, 3-2. Thomas threw 7.2 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Eugene reliever Chun-hua Zhào picked up the win, upping his record to 3-8. Dennis Garrett was saddled with the loss. The 8th-place Vandals now sit at 40-44.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Eugene pinch hitter Alfred Griffin, facing Dennis Garrett, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Vandals the 3-2 win.
"This house was rockin'," Griffin said.
