The Newmarket Rogues went down to defeat to Shane Park and his Eugene teammates. The final score was 2-1, Vandals, in 11 innings. José Díaz notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. His record now sits at 1-4. Eugene goes to 50-34, Newmarket to 36-48.
Eugene used the timely hitting of Cliff Coyne to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Vandals on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In postgame comments, Coyne said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
