Thanks in large part to right fielder Terry Smart, the Newmarket Rogues beat the South Beach Blaze, 6-5. Smart was 2-5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The 5th-place Blaze have dropped 5 straight games.
Smart had a game-changing double in the top of the tenth. On a 1-0 fastball from Chad Morris, he banged a 2-run double to left, giving the Rogues a 6-4 lead. It was the 4th double of the year for Smart.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Smart told the Newmarket Daily.
