Mockingbirds Lose By a Run at Colorado
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Colorado Billy Goats and the Memphis Mockingbirds, Chaz Michael-Michaels was the X factor. The Colorado right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Michael-Michaels got the win, improving to 3-0. He gave up 5 hits and walked 0 over 7.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. Earning his 7th save of the year was George Atwater.
In the bottom of the seventh, Colorado pinch hitter Jeff Hines gave his team the lead. With two out and a runner on 1st, Gigolo hit his 2nd home run of the year. Memphis pitcher Salvador López surrendered it. With that, the Billy Goats jumped in front, 2-1.
"My job is to throw quality pitches, go as deep as I can, and give us an opportunity," said Michael-Michaels.
By defeating Memphis, the 6th-place Billy Goats improved to 12-12.
