Curry Whacks 2 Home Runs in 6-3 Win
|
The Philadelphia Liberty U-21 finished off the Fort Knox Centennial, 6-3. Much of the credit belonged to third baseman Anderson Curry. Curry belted 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3 for the Liberty U-21. Willis Thomas, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-2. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 8 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 1. Denis Teissier closed the game out for Philadelphia, earning his 6th save.
Philadelphia took a 6-3 lead on Curry's 4th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Carlos Luna in the top of the eighth, propelled Philadelphia to the win.
"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Curry told the Philadelphia News.
Philadelphia goes to 7-12.
