Long Island Bats Go Silent in 2-0 Loss
|
The Las Vegas Flamingos picked up a win at The Strip, courtesy of Gilberto Malfeito. The right-hander helped his team stop the Long Island Lighthouse, 2-0. The winner was Malfeito. He threw 7.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Jeff Tate. Akil bin Abbud closed it out for his 2nd save.
The win was a team effort for Las Vegas. First Baseman Allen Harris was among the key contributors. In the bottom of the third, he put his team in front, 1-0, when he hit a run-scoring single.
"Main thing is I want the team to win," Malfeito told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
With the win, Las Vegas goes to 14-10, while the Lighthouse fall to 18-6.
