Crawdads Earn 5-1 Home Win
|
Cut Off got a strong outing from Bruce Willing as the Crawdads defeated the Grim Reapers, 5-1, at Crawdads Field. Willing yielded 1 run over 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. His record improves to 6-6. Bob Stevens earned his 2nd save in 2 chances.
Clint Sheffield had a big run-scoring double for the Crawdads in the bottom of the third inning. With Cut Off leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Norman Ayres, who is tied for 9th in the PA in innings pitched with 116.0, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Crawdads ahead, 2-0.
"I thought we played a nice game," Sheffield told the Cut Off Bulletin. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
The Cut Off win streak is now 3 games.
