Centennial Wrest Win from Liberty U-21, 5-4
|
The Fort Knox Centennial took Philadelphia pitcher Gil Chapman's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Ballpark of Baxter. The final score had Fort Knox getting past the Liberty U-21, 5-4. Chapman went 8.1 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 4. The win was credited to Edilberto Dioquino in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Denis Teissier took the loss. The Centennial sport a record of 6-14.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Fort Knox pinch hitter Júlio Campos, facing Denis Teissier, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Centennial the 5-4 win.
"It's what good teams do, find a way to win," said Campos.
