Starting pitcher Steve Allen was a major factor in the 3-2 Memphis Music triumph over the Fort Knox Centennial. Allen, now 1-2, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Yuri Werkman locked down his 4th save.
Memphis used the timely hitting of Jorge Ramírez to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Music on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"I was able to change speeds effectively tonight," said Allen.
The win has Memphis at 7-13.
