Eugene turned a fine outing from starter Sidney van Campen into a victory over the Chicago Tula at The Riot Zone. The final score was 4-2. The first-place Tula dropped to 54-34.

In the bottom of the first inning, designated hitter Pat Rawsthorne had a 2-run home run for Eugene. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Vandals on top, 2-0.

After the game, Eugene manager Milton Mathews applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
