Late Rally Gets 4-2 Win for Tula
|
Eugene got a big-time effort from pitcher Byron Combs, but it wasn't enough to keep the Chicago Tula from winning the game, 4-2. Combs threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Ray Berard earned the save for Chicago, his 14th. Chicago has run its win streak to 4 in a row.
Chicago used a timely hit from Jean Mazet to get the win. The first baseman stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Tula ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.
"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Tula manager José Ortega.
