Rogues Deal Hobeaus 4-1 Defeat
|
The Newmarket Rogues downed the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus, 4-1, at Rogues Stadium. Stellar pitching by Andrew Bowen had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 9th in the PA with a 1.10 WHIP, handcuffed his opponent all game. The winner was Bowen. He threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Wanko Wasko. Sean Ellis nailed down his 22nd save.
Rich Loudermilk had a big solo home run for the Rogues in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Newmarket leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a sinker from Wanko Wasko, who is tied for 2nd in the PA in complete games with 4, and swatted a home run to right. It was his 15th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rogues ahead, 2-0.
Loudermilk said his team "played with focus and determination."
The Rogues sit in 7th place in the Premier A with a record of 40-49.
