Arryns Fall Short, 6-5, at Eugene
|
António Ortega helped his team muscle past the Lake Erie Arryns, 6-5. In the game, the Eugene left fielder went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Gregory Barnett earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3.1 innings. His record is now 2-1. Jeff Rodríguez closed it out for Eugene, earning his 22nd save.
Ortega had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a first pitch fastball from Dan Gutiérrez, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Vandals a 6-5 lead. It was the 14th home run of the year for Ortega.
"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said Ortega.
With this game in the books, Eugene is 46-45, Lake Erie 53-38.
