Cajuns Get Dramatic 2-1 Win
|
Wet weather did not postpone the Crowley-Memphis ballgame.
The Memphis Music got a superb performance from pitcher Walt Murray, but the Crowley Cajuns still won the game, 2-1. Murray threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. Phil McKinley finished the game for Crowley and earned his 3rd save.
Crowley got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Tom Cooper. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cajuns ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 1 at-bat, it had a major impact on the outcome.
"Good ballgame," said Memphis manager Omar Casteneda. "But we came up on the short end."
The last-place Cajuns improved to 6-18.
