Both teams had their chances, but the Kennesaw Jets eventually prevailed.
Though he had a great game, Rick Etheridge could not single-handedly produce a win for Holy City. Kennesaw won the game, 2-1. Etheridge was 2-2 with 2 singles and 2 walks. Kennesaw reliever Juan González picked up the win to move to 1-1. Hilton Howell suffered the loss.
The Jets got a big at-bat from third baseman Carlos Villegas. For the game, Villegas was 1 for 3 with a home run. In the bottom of the first, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 16th home run of the season gave Kennesaw a 1-0 lead.
Kennesaw manager Roberto Ríos praised his team's "energy."
The win puts the Jets at 52-43, while the Herons drop to 37-58.
