Zoomies Score Late to Nip Uruguayans, 2-1
|
The Shady Side Zoomies gave their fans something to talk about with a thrilling, walk-off win.
The Shady Side Zoomies faced a tough opponent in Germantown pitcher Maxence Pillet, but found a way to pull out the victory at Terriers Ballpark by a final score of 2-1 in 11 innings. Pillet went 7.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Shady Side reliever Stewart Dawson picked up the win, raising his record to 1-1. Trent Harris was tagged with the loss.
Up to bat in the bottom of the 11th, 20-year old first baseman James M'Lady had a chance to be the hero. Germantown pitcher Ignacio Cortés wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, M'Lady hit a sacrifice fly. The Zoomies had themselves a thrilling win.
"Tough loss," said Germantown manager Greg Dixon. "Tough one to swallow."
The second-place Zoomies improved to 15-11.
