Liberty U-21 Dismiss Rhinos, 3-2
|
The Philadelphia Liberty U-21 picked up a win at Ballpark of Liberty, dropping the Redwood Rhinos, 3-2. Willis Thomas, who is tied for 4th in the PA- in innings pitched with 48.1, was the difference-maker. Thomas, now 4-2, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Denis Teissier recorded the save, his 10th.
Gunnar Ellis cracked a home run off Peter Harris in the bottom of the fifth. His 2-run blast put the Liberty U-21 on top, 2-1. In all, Ellis had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"Willis was doing a good job pouring in strikes," said Philadelphia manager Santiago Paez.
The Liberty U-21 saw their win-loss record go to 15-14. At the same time, the Rhinos fell to 12-17.
