Uruguayans Fall Short, 1-0, at Northwest Territory
|
In a low-scoring game between the Northwest Territory Beavers and the Germantown Uruguayans, pitcher Randy Powell was masterful on the mound. The Northwest Territory left-hander spearheaded his team's 1-0 win. The win was credited to Hoalohanani Enakai in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Valentín Buitrugo took the loss. Pedro Gil closed it out for Northwest Territory, earning his 9th save.
Northwest Territory took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Kelsey Verbiest hit a clutch solo home run to bring Beavers fans to their feet.
"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Northwest Territory manager Robert Acker.
The first-place Beavers have a record of 23-7.
