Billy Goats Earn Win with Late Rally
|
Boston got a valiant performance from pitcher Jim Everhart, but it wasn't enough to beat the Colorado Billy Goats. Colorado won the game, 5-4. Everhart threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Colorado reliever Tamasaburo Kishita picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Yong-hyun Kim was tagged with the loss. Min Der finished the game for Colorado and earned his 5th save.
Colorado used the clutch hitting of Juan Raspaldo to snag the win. The left fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Billy Goats ahead, 5-4. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Boston manager Brian Fahie. "But we decided not to take it."
The win leaves Colorado with a record of 8-6.
