Beavers Pick Up 3-1 Win Over Hudsonville
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Northwest Territory Beavers and the Hudsonville Flanderses, pitcher Takao Kato was the difference between victory and defeat. The Northwest Territory right-hander earned kudos in the 3-1 Beavers win. Kato, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Héctor Silva finished the game for Northwest Territory and earned his 9th save.
Center Fielder Sammy Badgett made an impact for Northwest Territory, when he swatted a run-scoring triple off Fa-tang Xiong in the top of the third. For the contest, Badgett was 1 for 5 with a triple.
Badgett said his team "played with a purpose."
