Amarillo pitcher Lan-quing Xin had a large part in his team subduing the Fort Knox Centennial, 5-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. The winner was Xin. He threw 7.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Jeremy Bush. Andrew Shirley was credited with the save for Amarillo, his 1st of the season.
Amarillo used a timely hit from Art Vandelay to get the win. The center fielder delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Warheads on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Justin Saginov.
With the win, the Warheads improved to 21-20.
