The Ladue Rams topped the Athletic Club KC U-21, 4-1, with youngster Danny Jones playing a key role. Jones went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Rams in the win. Jason García earned the win, while 21-year old left-handed pitcher Michael Adkins took the loss for Athletic Club KC. Cheslav Vadbolski wrapped it up, recording his 7th save.
Ladue took a 2-1 lead on Jones's 9th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which he hit off Michael Adkins in the bottom of the sixth, propelled Ladue to the win.
"Enjoyed this one," Jones told the Ladue Gazette. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
The setback makes Athletic Club KC 20-22.
