Memphis starter P.J. O'Day put the Montana offense in a vise grip. The right-hander relied heavily on his changeup in leading the Mockingbirds to a 1-0 win. Reliever David Thornton picked up the win. His record improves to 2-1. Pablo Gonzáles took the loss. The wins continue to add up for Memphis. The latest makes it 7 in a row.
Kelvin Reynolds clinched the win with a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the ninth. In the game, the Memphis third baseman drove in one run.
"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Memphis manager Beau Carsten.
