Right-hander Edgar Liriano mesmerized the Crowley Cajuns while leading the Redwood Rhinos to a 3-0 victory. The save was credited to Mark Sims, his 13th. Redwood is 23-25 and Crowley, with the loss, 17-31.

In the top of the first, António Ortega ambushed a first pitch slider from Yasuhiko Kimura and hit a 2-run home run. It gave Redwood a quick 2-0 lead.

"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said Redwood skipper Robby Long.
