Centennial Thrill Fans with 2-1 Win
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Fort Knox Centennial and the Redwood Rhinos, Adam Conisford, who is tied for 8th in the PA- in quality starts with 7, proved to be the difference. The Fort Knox right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Centennial win. Ken Irvin picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Declan Phelps suffered the loss. The Centennial have an impressive 33-18 record.
Fort Knox won the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. With no outs and Declan Phelps on the mound for Redwood, first baseman Hubert Estes hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Centennial fans to their feet.
"Good ballgame," said Redwood manager Robby Long. "But we came up on the short end."
