Uruguayans Pull Out Late-Game Win, 4-3
|
Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Hound Pound.
The Germantown Uruguayans faced a tenacious opponent in Hicksville pitcher David Ramos, but still scratched out a win at Hound Pound by a final score of 4-3 in 10 innings. Ramos went 9 innings and allowed 4 runs. The winner in relief was Cory Valéncia. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0. Ronald Montés earned the save for Germantown, his 7th of the year.
Germantown used the timely hitting of Scott Creswell to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Uruguayans on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"That was fun, that was just good baseball," said Creswell.
With the win, Germantown has a record of 25-26. Hicksville falls to 35-16.
