The Fort Knox Centennial defeated the Shady Side Zoomies, 2-1, in USPL Low A action at Ballpark of Baxter. Fort Knox pitcher Monty Weaver had a standout performance. Jody Ross earned his 3rd save, after closing out the game. Fort Knox, with the win, is 18-37.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Omar Enebrad came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Shady Side pitcher Stewart Dawson, he hit a first pitch cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Fort Knox on top, 2-1.
Weaver called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
