Tight Tilt Goes to Warheads, 1-0
|
In a tight tilt between the Amarillo Warheads and the Redwood Rhinos, Hal Gaines was the deciding factor. The Amarillo right-hander spearheaded the 1-0 win. Gaines, now 7-2, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing no runs. The triumph puts Amarillo at 35-23 for the season.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Warheads had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when second baseman Stanford Logan hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Jeff McDonald and made the score 1-0, Warheads. Logan was 3 for 3 with 3 singles.
"It wasn't easy, but we got it done," said Logan.
