Cajuns Rally to Win
|
Fernando Escalante pitched a gem to lead Crowley to victory over the Hicksville Hounds, 2-1, in 12 innings. Crowley reliever Kevin Webb picked up the win, raising his record to 2-2. Ricardo Gamera was tagged with the loss. The first-place Cajuns have a one-game lead in their division.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Chris Veeck came to bat in the top of the 12th. Facing Hicksville pitcher Ricardo Gamera, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Crowley on top, 2-1.
"I like what I saw today," said Crowley manager Alejandro Mingo, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
