Otters Earn Clutch Win, 6-5
|
Redwood left fielder Orlando González was sensational. He was 2 for 2 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Tulsa beat the Rhinos, 6-5. Bill Young recorded the save, his 13th. The 9th-place Otters improved to 25-37.
Elton Lafayette drove in one run for Tulsa. With one out and the game tied in the top of the eighth inning, Lafayette had a clutch at-bat. Facing Redwood hurler Alexander Cobbledick, he grounded out, driving in 1 run to give the Otters a 6-5 lead.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Redwood manager Joe Goff. "But we decided not to take it."
