The Memphis Music got a magnificent effort from pitcher Steve Allen, who kept Hudsonville hitters in check en route to a 2-0 Music win at Hudsonville Park. The winner was Memphis reliever Charles Covenay, now 2-1. The loser was Bob Scott. Yuri Werkman earned the save for Memphis, his 9th of the year.

Memphis used the timely hitting of Sam Allen to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Music on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Steve pitched like a son-of-a-gun," said Memphis manager Omar Casteneda.

With this game in the books, Memphis is 29-34, Hudsonville 24-39.
