Bob Scott pitched well, but the Hudsonville Flanderses still lost the game, falling, 3-2, to the Redwood Rhinos at The Zoo. Byron Combs snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 1.2 innings. He's now 2-1 on the season. The Rhinos improved to a lofty 48-20.

The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Victor Haynes came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Hudsonville pitcher Yi-da Gui, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Redwood on top, 3-2.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Redwood skipper Joe Goff.
