Peña Helps Rhinos Beat Centennial, 6-3
|
José Peña was a major factor in the 6-3 Redwood win over Fort Knox. The Rhinos third baseman was 2-4 with 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. Edgar Liriano, the winning pitcher, improved to 7-3. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 4 hits and 1 run, while striking out 6 and walking 2. Picking up his 15th save was 18-year old right-handed pitcher Dennis Jones.
Early in the game, Peña had a 2-run home run for Redwood. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Rhinos on top, 3-1.
Redwood manager Robby Long commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
The Rhinos now own a record of 33-36.
