Starting pitcher Jacob Wirt pitched well enough to help the Fort Knox Centennial beat the Northwest Territory Beavers, 4-3. Wirt got the win, improving to 8-5. He gave up 4 hits and walked 2 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 3 runs. The second-place Centennial have won 7 straight games.
The Centennial jumped ahead in the bottom of the third. With one out, Ricardo López, who is tied for 8th in the PA- in stolen bases with 5, hit a 3-run home run off Allen Owen, putting Fort Knox in front, 3-1. For López, it was his 5th home run of the season.
In postgame remarks, Wirt said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
