The Fort Knox Centennial downed the Tijuana Toros, 4-0, at Toros Ballpark. Stellar pitching by George Young had a lot to do with it. The left-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the PA- in wins with 9, handcuffed his opponent all game. In 7 innings, Young surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. The save was credited to Jody Ross, his 6th.
Fort Knox used the clutch hitting of Ian Clews to snag the win. The catcher drilled a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Centennial ahead, 1-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Fort Knox skipper Michael Malloy.
Fort Knox is now 41-30, while Tijuana is 20-51.
