The Redwood Rhinos could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Tom Young into a win. Instead, the Philadelphia Liberty U-21 prevailed, 8-5, in 10 innings. Young threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The second-place Liberty U-21 lifted their record to 40-31.

Fernando Castro found himself in a pressure situation in the top of the tenth. Facing Redwood hurler Bob Morton, the 21-year-old second baseman drew a walk, driving in 1 run. His 40th walk of the season put the Liberty U-21 on top, 5-4.
