Thrilling Victory Pushes Octopi Win Streak to 7
|
The Capital Hill Interns got a sterling performance from designated hitter Mauro Martínez, but the Ogallala Octopi still prevailed, 3-2. Martínez threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The winning continues for Ogallala, with the latest making it 7 straight.
In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 2-2, shortstop Carlos Chávez won it for Ogallala. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Chávez hit a first pitch fastball from Baltwin Holster for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 3-2 win.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Ogallala manager Félix Cruz.
