Hudsonville and Fort Knox got after it at Ballpark of Baxter.
The performance of Adam Paynter proved critical in helping Hudsonville beat Fort Knox, 8-4. The Flanderses right fielder went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Vic Halliwell picked up the win, improving his season record to 6-4. He struck out 6 in 6.2 innings.
With Hudsonville leading 1-0 in the top of the second, Paynter came up to bat against Fort Knox pitcher Eugene Smith. Paynter hit a splitter to right for a solo home run. His 8th home run of the season put the Flanderses on top, 2-0.
"It was a solid team effort," said Paynter after the game.
Hudsonville improves to 46-27 with the win. They lead their division by 5 games.
