The Plattsburgh Puffer Fish topped the Redwood Rhinos, 5-4, with youngster Juan Figueroa playing a key role. Figueroa was 3 for 4 with 3 triples, while scoring 3 runs for the Puffer Fish in the win. Dale Petherbridge picked up the win, lifting his record to 8-5 on the season. He struck out 6 and walked 3 in 8 innings, while yielding 4 runs. The Puffer Fish saw their record improve to 42-33.
Had Mauro Moreno not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Moreno hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Puffer Fish.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Figueroa told the Plattsburgh Daily News.
