The Philadelphia Liberty U-21 went home winners at The Igloo, thanks in large part to starter Chad May. May stifled the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople, enabling Philadelphia to grab the 9-1 win. The win moves Philadelphia to a record of 2-1.

Philadelphia used a well-timed hit by Carlos Martínez to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Liberty U-21 ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"I thought we played a nice game," Martínez told the Philadelphia News. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
