Cajuns Suffer 8-5 Home Defeat
Getting a good performance from second baseman Gene Ladd, the Hicksville Hounds defeated the Crowley Cajuns, 8-5. Ladd was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs for the Hounds. Porter Brown picked up the win with 7.1 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 12 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 3-7. Hicksville goes to 43-36, Crowley to 29-50.

Phil Jackson had a big run-scoring double for the Hounds in the top of the fifth inning. With Hicksville leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a curveball from Jesse Blanton, who is tied for 4th in the PA- with a 8.3 K/9 rate, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 17th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Hounds ahead, 2-0.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Hicksville skipper Art Manning.
