The Surprise Shockers racked up a win at Shockers Field, bumping off the Tijuana Toros, 3-2, in 11 innings. Franco Morán, who started for Surprise, pitched effectively for his team. With the win, Surprise has a record of 34-47. Tijuana falls to 32-49.
Up to bat in the bottom of the 11th, 20-year old shortstop Tanzan Murayama had a chance to be the hero. Tijuana pitcher Yin-reng Guo wanted to foil that plan. But with no outs, Murayama hit a sacrifice fly. The Shockers had themselves a thrilling win.
"The fans went nuts at the end," Murayama said.
