Hicksville pitcher Jeff LaPierre had a large part in his team subduing the Tijuana Toros, 4-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. Héctor Hernández notched his 21st save in 22 chances. The win elevated the Hounds to 45-37.

The Hounds got a big at-bat from second baseman Gene Ladd. For the game, Ladd was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Hicksville a 3-0 lead.
