Uruguayans Win at Amarillo, 5-1
|
Starting pitcher Alex Nelson fulfilled his part of the bargain, helping the Germantown Uruguayans stymie the Amarillo Warheads, 5-1. Nelson, the winner, moves to 2-4. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up no walks. Germantown has now won 4 in a row.
Germantown used the hitting of Jorge Ybarra to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Uruguayans on top, 5-0. For the game, Ybarra had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"When Alex is on, he can really move the ball around," said Germantown manager Ralph Titus.
