Rhinos Earn Late Win
|
The Redwood Rhinos knocked off the Northwest Territory Beavers, 2-1, in USPL Low A action at Beaver Town. Redwood pitcher and College Park, Georgia, native Ben Watkins had an outstanding performance. Watkins picked up the win for Redwood, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 6-7. Bob Morton closed it out for his 18th save.
Redwood took a 2-1 lead on Orlando González's 19th double of the season. The 2-run double, which González hit in the top of the eighth, left Northwest Territory pitcher Juan Martínez visibly frustrated.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Northwest Territory skipper Robert Acker, "and it cost us."
Northwest Territory's current losing streak has reached 5 games.
