Centennial Win Squeaker, 2-1, Over Warheads

The Centennial faced a stiff challenge from Amarillo pitcher Cecil Cornett, but persevered to claim a win at Ballpark of Baxter. The final score was 2-1. Cornett went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Gabriel Diharce picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 7-7. Cecil Cornett suffered the loss. Rick Ernst, credited with the save, is now 2 for 2 in save opportunities.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter José Rangel came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Amarillo pitcher Jeff MacFadden, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Fort Knox on top, 2-1.
Rangel attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
Fort Knox now has a record of 48-40 with the win.
