Hounds Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Hicksville Hounds and the Fort Knox Centennial, pitcher Jeff LaPierre was the difference between victory and defeat. The Hicksville left-hander earned kudos in the 2-1 Hounds win. Hicksville reliever Dean Medley picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. José Castro absorbed the loss. Hicksville leads the Premier Low A by 7½ games.
Had Keith Bullock not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Bullock hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Hounds.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Fort Knox manager Michael Malloy.
