Fans who congregated at Ballpark of Albuquerque were treated to extra-inning drama.
The Crowley Cajuns took Alard Elst's best shot and still were able to collect a win at Ballpark of Albuquerque. The final score had Crowley getting past the Uruguayans, 5-2, in 10 innings. Elst over 7 innings allowed 1 run on 2 hits, while striking out 6. Kevin Webb earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 3-0. Picking up the save was 20-year old right-handed pitcher Mike Butler.
Crowley used a timely hit from Ed Steele to get the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Cajuns ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.
Steele attributed the win to "concerted effort and focus."
The win makes Crowley 54-42.
