Shockers Lose to Amarillo, 7-1
|
Enthusiastic fans came out to support the home team at Ballpark of Henderson.
The Surprise Shockers had their hands full with Amarillo Warheads starter Bob Foster, who frustrated Surprise hitters while leading Amarillo to a comfortable, 7-1 win. The winning pitcher was Foster, now 1-0. He tossed 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5.
Tied up with the Shockers in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Warheads got a boost from center fielder Lee Spencer. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Spencer saw a first pitch fastball from Voitto Peltonen and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Amarillo on top, 2-1.
Spencer attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
Amarillo is now 4-2.
