Sea Dogs Pull Out Late Win, 5-4
|
The Maine Sea Dogs beat the Beaumont Crossbeaus, 5-4, in part because of first baseman Tyler Romero. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The win was credited to Cheng-gong Mok in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Sebastian Pease took the loss. Don Thompson closed the door for Maine, picking up his 1st save of the year.
Maine used the timely hitting of Chris Beauregard to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Sea Dogs on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Beauregard. "And not try to do too much."
With the loss, Beaumont sinks to 2-5.
