Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Ogallala Octopi and Hicksville Hounds.

Ogallala pitcher Wes Crowe did his part in helping his team beat the Hicksville Hounds, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Nelson Sánchez picked up the save, his 1st.

The Hounds had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Octopi going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old shortstop Paul McBride came to the plate. McBride hit a run-scoring double on a 2-2 curveball from Hicksville hurler Rubén Rodríguez. It was McBride's 3rd double of the year.

"We've got a great group of guys," Crowe said, "and we're having fun right now."

With the win, Ogallala lifts its record to 6-1.
